It was a rather successful first day of the Michelle Short and Adam Brown Tournament for Oklahoma State softball as the Cowgirls swept the first day, a 10-0 run rule win over SIU-Edwardsville and 5-2 over South Dakota State.

With the wins, the No. 13 Cowgirls moved to 7-4 overall on the season.

In the win over SIUE, Bloodworth opened the scoring in the second inning with her first home run of the season. Tallen Edwards then pushed the lead to two with an RBI single to score Tia Warsop.

The Cowgirls laid on seven more runs in the third inning to push the game into run rule territory. Micaela Wark and Rachael Hathoot both hit RBI singles. Bloodworth then hit a sacrifice fly to score Wark, and Warsop bunted for an RBI. Rosie Davis hit a bases-clearing double to score three Cowgirls and bring the score to 9-0.

Wark added another run to the board in the fourth inning with a solo homer.

Meylan improved to 2-0 with the win, pitching for five innings with 10 strikeouts and only one hit allowed. McKayla Anderson took the loss for SIU Edwardsville and dropped to 1-2.

Offensive standouts for Oklahoma State included Wark (2-for-3 with a home run and a RBI), Bloodworth (1-for-1 with a home run and two RBIs) and Davis (2-for-3 with three RBIs.)

Karli Godwin singled in the third to extend her streak of on-base games to 17, which is the longest active streak in the country.

In game two, South Dakota State got out to an early 2-0 lead thanks to a pair of solo home runs in the first inning from Brooke Dumont and Mia Jarecki.

Megan Bloodworth got Oklahoma State on the board in the second by stealing third base and then scoring off a South Dakota State error.

Wark blasted a solo home run to tie the game in the third inning.

After two scoreless innings, the Cowgirls took the lead in the sixth when Megan Delgadillo was hit by a pitch with bases loaded to score Macy Graf. Davis then singled to score Tia Warsop and Bloodworth to bring the score to 5-2 and give OSU all the insurance it needed.

Katie Kutz improved to 5-1 with the win after relieving Ruby Meylan. She struck out five and allowed only one hit in three innings of work. Tayler Baker took the loss for the Jackrabbits and dropped to 1-2.

Offensive standouts for Oklahoma State included Wark (1-for-3 with a home run) and Davis (1-for-3 with two RBIs.)

The Cowgirls return to action at noon on Monday against Central Arkansas to close out their weekend at the Michelle Short and Adam Brown Tournament.
