What's Being Said About Oklahoma State's Upset Over No. 9 Iowa State
STILLWATER – If you had polled the fans entering Gallagher-Iba Arena on Tuesday night I’m not sure how many would have said with confidence that they thought they were about to see a top 10 team go down. Nationally, that number would have been virtually unanimous. That is the great thing about sports, polls don’t decide it all. Games aren’t played on paper or what the prevailing opinion is. Sports is played on the court, field, diamond, etc. You can’t rush the decision, but when the decision is played out, you sometimes rush the court and they did Tuesday night in Stillwater.
Iowa State head coach T.J. Otzelberger
"Unacceptable (first half). We knew they were going to play hard. They had a 14-point lead at half because they dominated us on the glass, they dominated us in the paint and they turned turnovers into points. Those are the physical toughness things that lead to winning, those are the reasons that teams win and that's the reason why they built the lead and we were chasing all night, trying to play catch up, because they did such a great job of winning those toughness categories and dominating us."
Arturo Dean, Oklahoma State guard had 7 steals and 14 points
“When Abou (Ousman) scored the dunk, the feeling was just surreal. It gave me goosebumps and chills. Honestly, I didn’t even know they was gonna storm the court. I should’ve known when it was an upset like that.”
Rick Neuheisel, Sirius-XM College Sports Today and CBS
“That was a well-needed win for the folks at Oklahoma State. Maybe, instead of Iowa State, who I think will be fine, this is a good sign for the Cowboys going forward in the postseason. Oklahoma State has good tradition in football, good tradition in basketball, but this hasn’t been a good year. Maybe this will turn that around. The Pokes may be strong in Kansas City.”

There was a lot of college basketball on Tuesday and we expected more of a reaction, checking some of the top commentators and writers in college basketball on social media and were surprised the Cowboys conquest did not get more attention. It really doesn’t matter because it became the highlight of the season for men’s hoops in Stillwater.
Iowa State was the second No. 9-ranked team to go down in Gllagher-Iba Arena this season. The women’s team beat No. 9 TCU 60-59 back on Jan. 22.
