Oklahoma State Puts Four Wrestlers in the NCAA Semifinals

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Oklahoma State advanced four wrestlers to the semifinals of the 2025 NCAA Wrestling Championships Friday morning and sits in third place with 63 points to mark its most through three sessions since 2013.

OSU is just 2.5 points behind second-place Nebraska, while first-place Penn State has 90.5 points. The rest of the field is 21 points behind the Cowboys. The Cowboys' four semifinalists are tied with Nebraska for the second-most at the tournament, with Penn State setting the pace with seven.

The semifinalists locked up All-America honors with their quarterfinal wins in Friday's early session, as Dustin Plott (184 pounds) earned the recognition for a fourth-straight year, Wyatt Hendrickson (heavyweight) claimed it for third-straight year, Dean Hamiti Jr. (174 pounds) earned it for a third time and Troy Spratley (125 pounds) earned it for a first time.

Plott, who cruised past No. 12 Silas Allred of Nebraska, 12-5, is now just the 16th four-time All-American in the history of Oklahoma State wrestling.

Hendrickson continued his tear through the field, as he earned his third pin of the event in as many matches to get past No. 7 Isaac Trumble of N.C. State in just 2:15. Hendrickson secured the first takedown seven seconds into the match and rolled to the 25th win of his undefeated season. He is the only wrestler at any weight to record three straight pins and his 15.0 team points rank alone as the most through three sessions. As a team, Oklahoma State's four pins are tied for the most in the tournament.

The other two Cowboy semifinalists outlasted their opponent in close decisions, as seventh-seeded Spratley upset No. 2 Matt Ramos of Purdue, 5-2, and Hamiti got past No. 11 Patrick Kennedy of Iowa, 8-6. Ramos defeated Spratley earlier this season at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational and was the national runner-up in 2023.

Cowboys Caleb Fish (157 pounds) and Cameron Amine (165 pounds) also wrestled in the quarterfinals but fell in hard-fought decisions as Fish dropped a 6-4 match to Northwestern's Trevor Chumbley and Amine fell to No. 1 Mitchell Mesenbrink of Penn State, 5-0. It was just the second time this season that the unbeaten Mesenbrink was held without bonus points.

This is far from glorious as Travis battled blood and injury before bowing out.

Fish and Amine will wrestle in the fourth consolation round Friday night and need just one more win to secure All-America honors. They are joined in the round by fellow Cowboy Tagen Jamison (141 pounds), who went 2-0 Friday morning in the consolation bracket with a fall and technical fall.

OSU's 33rd-seeded Teague Travis also earned bonus points with a major decision in his first consolation match of the day but bowed out of the tournament as he battled through injury in a third consolation round loss.

The 2025 NCAA Wrestling Championships continue through March 22 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, with the fourth session scheduled to begin Friday at 7 p.m. CT on ESPN2.
