"The Voice" Oklahoma State Cowgirls Version: They Look Forward to Knockouts
STILLWATER – The real “Voice” on NBC continues with the knockouts round where the four coaches John Legend, Adam Lavine, Kelsea Ballerini, and Michael Buble’ pit two of their singers against each other in a sing off for survival. It seems the Oklahoma State Cowgirls softball team has their own version of The Voice going on road trips, primarily on the bus.
You see, the Cowgirls are 21-9, which is a record many teams around the country would love to have. But for the Cowgirls, it is just okay. They keep pushing, improving, with the idea that their goal is not to go unbeaten in the regular season. Don’t get me wrong, they try to win every game, but the goal is the end game.

“I think it gives us a goal mindset, like we have a bigger picture that we want to get to here,” said sophomore second baseman Rosie Davis. “It allows us to go with the flow and that everything happens for a reason and we can learn from every single moment that happens.”
“Going and trusting in your teammates and knowing that they are putting in the work every single day even if they don’t look like they are being successful, at the end of the day I see teammates working day in and day out,” added right fielder Tia Warsop, a native of England. “That kind of trust males it so the goal at the end of the year is at the top of our minds.”
The fun has to be a part of it. They said they are laughing on the road trips as they’ve been to Mexico, Florida, Georgia, and this week going to Arizona for a non-conference game with Arizona State on Wednesday before a conference series with Arizona this weekend.

“Laughing on buses and making people sing karoke out loud with headphones on.” Warsop added.
“Unwritten,” both said in unison is the go-to song. “I think I did an Adele song I don’t really remember,” Davis said. “I did Bruno Mars,” added Warsop.
“Yes, they are so fun,” Davis said when I asked if the bus rides had become like an episode of The Voice. “We love the Voice so much. It is definitely like the Voice. We would make it to the knockouts.”
They said that Fergi and Snoop Dogg would be their choices for coaches in the Oklahoma State softball version of ‘The Voice’.
The Cowgirls’ goal is to win the final game.

“We don’t usually sing after,” head coach Kenny Gajewski said when I asked if the girls knew when to sing and when not to. “In this game you have to have a short memory of what is the good and the bad. We have to be ready the next day.”
Gajewski said he tries to be the same guy everyday. He wants his players to be the same and approach every game the same way. The singing can allow that to happen.
