Woes Continue as Oklahoma State Softball Drops Home Series With Iowa State
STILLWATER — No. 17 Oklahoma State Softball dropped the series finale against Iowa State, 8-4, Sunday at Cowgirl Stadium.
The Cowgirls dropped to 24-14 overall and 6-7 in the Big 12, while the Cyclones improved to 20-18 on the season and 9-6 in the conference.
Iowa State got off to a quick start with three runs in the first inning, and Sydney Malott hit a two-run home run in the second to give the Cyclones a five-run lead.
Oklahoma State got on the board in the third inning after loading the bases and taking advantage of an Iowa State error to score Tallen Edwards.
A pair of OSU errors in the fourth inning led to two more Iowa State runs.
Tia Warsop singled in Karli Godwin in the fifth inning to cut the deficit to five for Oklahoma State, but Karlee Ford hit a solo home run in the next inning for the Cyclones.
Edwards homered to right field with Megan Bloodworth on base in the sixth inning to cap the score at 8-4.
Katie Kutz dropped to 7-5 with the loss. Ruby Meylan entered the game in the second and collected five strikeouts in three full innings. Jaiden Ralston improved to 6-6 with the win.
Offensive standouts for the Cowgirls included Edwards (2-for-3 with a home run and two runs batted in), Godwin (2-for-4 with two doubles) and Warsop (1-for-3 with an RBI.)
The Cowgirls return to action at 6 p.m. Tuesday for a non-conference matchup against Wichita State in Cowgirl Stadium. The game will be live streamed on ESPN+ and can be heard on the Varsity Network app.
