
Oklahoma State Takes Game One 7-0 Over UCF
ORLANDO, Fla. — A seventh-inning offensive eruption lifted No. 21 Oklahoma State Softball to a 7-0 win over UCF at the UCF Softball Complex Thursday.
The Cowgirls improved to 26-14 overall and 7-7 in the Big 12, while the Golden Knights dropped to 25-19-1 and 6-10 in the conference.
Ruby Meylan (16-6) was dominant in the circle, striking out 10 in a one-hit complete game shutout. She allowed only four baserunners all game. Yessenia Lopez dipped to 2-8 with the loss.
The Oklahoma State offense came alive in the seventh, beginning with Rosie Davis singling in Megan Delgadillo to break the tie. In the next at-bat, Audrey Schneidmiller blasted her first home run of the season with Rosie Davis and Tallen Edwards on base. Claire Timm hit an RBI groundout to score pinch runner Sophie Page, and a UCF fielding error off a single from Delgadillo allowed pinch runner Tara Vandewater and Rachael Hathoot to score.
Offensive standouts for the Cowgirls included Schneidmiller (1-for-1 with a home run and three RBIs), Davis (2-for-3 with an RBI) and Delgadillo (1-for-3 with an RBI.)
The seventh inning marked the most runs Oklahoma State has scored in an inning on the season. Rosie Davis reached 100 career hits in the contest.
The Cowgirls return to action at 6 p.m. tomorrow for the second game of the series. The game will be televised on ESPNU and can be heard on the Varsity Network app.
