All-American Wide Receiver Brenen Thompson Sets Official Visit To Oklahoma State
STILLWATER, Okla – Oklahoma State is continuing their hellish run of recruiting the 2022 class by locking in an official visit for one of the top athletes in the country, Brenen Thompson.
The visit is scheduled for June 9-11, which is when some of the first visits will be allowed post COVID ban.
The Spearman, Texas, standout is a top 100 recruit and has been named an Under Armour All American, one of the most prestigious honors in high school football. Thompson is listed as an “athlete” in most cases because he excels at multiple positions, in all three phases of the game.
He has played quite a bit of quarterback, purely because of his athleticism. He has also received all-district honors at both wide receiver and cornerback, while also being one of the special teams returners in the country. His playmaking is all driven from his speed, which is beyond elite. In fact, many say he could place at an Olympic event in the sprinting events. He runs a 10.3 100m dash as well as a 21.52 200m dash.
Oklahoma State is recruiting him to play the wide receiver position and they have had him at the top of the board since they offered him back in early April 2020.
I have spoken with Thompson on several occasions about the Cowboys and each time he expresses how impressed he is with the staff, mainly Kasey Dunn and John Wozniak.
He has also talked about his love for the culture of Stillwater. Thompson himself has grown up in a rural area, surrounded by farming life, one that he loves to be a part of, which is also the area of degree he wants to pursue, so his liking of Oklahoma State is no surprise.
This is the first reported official visit for Thompson, which is a very good thing. Because his relationship with the staff is so strong, they will roll out the red carpet for him when he shows up in hopes of capitalizing on the momentum, they have with him. This could be a situation where the player comes into town uncommitted and leaves the opposite.
There are some major players in Thompson’s recruitment, mainly Clemson, but the fact he has the Cowboys first says something about what he thinks of them.
This will be a tough land for the Cowboys, but they have put themselves in prime position to close on him.
