
Oklahoma State Secures Series Win With Extra-Inning Victory at Kansas
LAWRENCE, Kan. — A pair of runs in the eighth inning pushed the No. 23 Oklahoma State softball team to a 4-2 win over Kansas at Arrocha Ballpark Saturday.
The Cowgirls improved to 29-16 overall and 10-8 in the Big 12, while the Jayhawks dropped to 20-24 on the season and 5-15 in the conference.
With the bases loaded in the eighth, Claire Timm and Audrey Schneidmiller drew back-to-back walks to score the winning runs. Kansas picked up a one-out single in the bottom of the inning, but Ruby Meylan shut down the Jayhawks' hopes with a strikeout and a groundout to seal the OSU win and to clinch the series victory.
Meylan improved to 19-6 with the win after entering in the sixth inning and denying the Jayhawks a run. RyLee Crandallpitched the first five innings, allowing two runs on three hits while striking out five. KU's Olivia Bruno dipped to 4-5 with the loss.
Rosie Davis put Oklahoma State on the board with a two-run homer in the first inning. Kansas converted a sacrifice fly in the second and Hailey Cripe hit a solo home run to tie the game in the third inning.
The Cowgirls return to action at noon tomorrow in search of the series sweep. The game will be live streamed on ESPN+ and can be heard on the Varsity Network app.
