Stability for the Big 12 in the Commissioner Role - Yormark Gets Contract Extension
STILLWATER – According to an ESPN report released late Monday night the Big 12 will have continued stability in its’ leadership in the roll of commissioner. The Big 12 Board of Directors have reportedly reached an agreement on a three-year extension with commissioner Brett Yormark.
Yormark’s original deal ran through 2027 and now this will take him through 2030 as the commissioner of the Big 12.

Yormark’s ability when he took over in 2022 for former commissioner Bob Bowlsby, to stabilize the conference first, by adding the four corner schools from the declining Pac-12 and second, by jumping the ACC and Pac-12 in securing a major television contract in the wake of what the SEC and Bog Ten had done.
Yormark prioritized and achieved early negotiations with Fox and ESPN more than a year before the exclusive negotiating window. A few months later, the Big 12 agreed to a six-year, $2.28 billion deal.
He then was able to lure Colorado, Arizona, Arizona State and Utah into the Big 12.
Yormark has modernized the conference from a marketing and event status and he has shown the “dog” in him in fighting the SEC and Big Ten as they try to take over power conference sports and dominate in all areas. It is a toght fight, but he has shown the tenacity to get some things accomplished.
