STILLWATER – We’ve already hit on it here, CBS Sports had some guy that I’d never heard of or seen in Stillwater call the Oklahoma State quarterback room the bleakest in Division I, Power Four college football. ESPN had the Cowboys in the bottom half of the Big 12, but not as gloomy as some.

We need to get at least 7+ wins and a decent bowl. Without that, we will have the OSU BOR making more "brilliant" decisions, based on 1950 thinking, which will have OSU playing UCO and OK directional schools. GO POKES!!!

We need to be competitive in all the games this year and show BIG improvement on defense, I agree with Tuska on the BOR as they also have underperformed for our school. IF we can win 6,7,8 games and show improvement in talent, coaching schemes and competitiveness it will go a long way in this crazy college football climate. Basketball also needs similar better results across the board this year.

Yes the gloomers will always be with us. Ever hovering with their bizarre desire to fire Gundy.

However, I think they'll be frustrated as the new staff has upgraded the roster with key starters and depth. OL & D should both be improved. QB play should be improved. In fact QB play could make a monster leap forward. We have two candidates that are both high end potential guys. Unproven, but potential.

I think this team is at a minimum bowl eligible. With a top that could shock people.

Last year we had a good front line, but when the injuries came (particularly Martin & Oliver) we didn't have anyone behind them that could even marginally plug the hole. And as the season wore on that lack of depth kept showing more clearly. Too many top players had been plucked by other schools and top backups wanted to play so headed out to other places. So if that's where Gundy and the previous staff messed up, I'd agree it was an issue. That's why this year they brought in 50+, we kept seeing more DL/OL pickups each week and that was the reason they've built depth at key points. With the portal that is now the way it has to be done. You can't wait to develop, kids will leave for PT before they're ready to start, and the ones that stay are those that don't develop. We got caught with a roster last year that had a thin veneer of top talent on a mass of not ready talent, and we lost 9 games because of it. This year I don't see that being a repeat.

National media is clueless.

My most positive guesstimate of this team's upside is based on what our recruiting staff has done in the past. OSU's evaluations of primarily 3 star players has fairly consistently outperformed not only national rankings, but even the blue blood Longhorn team. Now, OSU has more actual opportunities to review recruits who have actually shown their talent against other college level players.
My optomistic side would suggest there's no reason to think our more mature level player recruitment won't continue to show outperformance and superior play making compared to many competitors.
And I don't see either of our top three coaches being failures. Gundy has been too successful long term and our coordinators have great experiences on their resumes, so let this new season get going!

Not going there. I will not be swayed by reports of ability, strength, speed, potential, upside, intelligence, togetherness, family, etc. We're a 3-win team until we're not.

I pretty much agree, but I'm expecting us to perhaps double last year's wins. But my lofty 6 win expectation is based solely on Robert's constant ranting about how good and how deep we are.

I'll be absolutely shocked if we can pull a real OLine out of this group, that could give the raw QBs a minute to look around. If this line cannot hold, then it wouldn't matter if we had Tom Brady at QB.

I'm thrilled that we're changing the defense (again), but we have all experienced the past few DC changes, and their first year is seldom their best.

Even if next year's D is not his best it should be better than the last two years.
