Oklahoma State’s Brian Musau accomplished a double on Friday evening at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships as he fought to stay ahead in the stretch of the Men’s 5,000 meters. Musau outfinished New Mexico’s Habtom Samuel and a diving Marco Langon of Villanova to win by .30 seconds. Musau had a winning time of 13:20.59. That means Musau won the 5,000 meters at both the indoor and the outdoor NCAA Championships, a rare feat.
After winning the 5,000 Meter title indoors, Musau doubled down on his dominance outdoors, clocking the 13:20.59 in a masterclass of tactics and closing speed. After running a staggering 4:01 over his final 1600 meters, Musau held the lead entering the bell lap and found yet another gear to fend off a late challenge from Villanova’s Marco Langon. The victory marks his second NCAA title of the year and second straight first team All-America finish in the 5K after placing fourth last season.
He is also a first-team All-American and he helped the Cowboys men’s team to a team finish of a three-way tie at No. 11 with BYU and host Oregon also having 19 team points. Texas A&M and USC were tied at the top with 41 points at the Heyward Track and Field Stadium. BYU and Oklahoma State were tied for the highest finishing Big 12 teams.
Musau paced himself and had plenty left at the finish. His teammate Fouad Messaoudi also earned All-American honors with an eighth place finish in a time of 13:25.48.
In the women’s heptathlon, which started today with four of the seven events and Oklahoma State’s Anni9e Molenhouse is currently in 11th place with 3,443 points. Molenhouse was 15th in the 100 meter hurdles, 15th in the high jump at 1.66 meters, 14th in the shot put with a throw of 12.32 meters, and seventh in the 200 meters in a tie of 24.13 seconds.
Jaden O’Brien of Notre Dame leads the multi event with 3,710 points, 267 points ahead of Molenhouse. The Oklahoma State women with several events and competitors to go on Saturday including the finish of the hepthalonare tied for 18th with five points.
The Cowgirls wrap up competition Saturday, with Molenhouse finishing the final three events of the Heptathlon and Isca Chelangat running in the 5,000 Meter Final.
