Oklahoma State Lands Redshirt Freshman Outfield Transfer Kaya Booker
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State and Kenny Gajewski has added some talent out of the transfer portal in Georgia Tech outfielder, Kaya Booker.
Booker has four years of eligibility remaining receiving a medical redshirt following her freshman season this spring.
“We’re very excited to add Kaya to the team,” said coach Gajewski. “She’s coming off a freshman season at Georgia Tech where she had to redshirt because of an injury, and we can’t wait to see her grow and develop as a Cowgirl.”
She missed nearly the entirety of her freshman season, but was a highly-regarded high school prospect out of Chattahoochee (GA) High School where she was the No. 33-ranked prospect according to Extra Innings Softball. She was also the No. 24 overall outfielder in the class. She holds the single season records with a .565 batting average, 54 hits, 38 RBIs and 36 stolen bases.
"Words can't describe how excited I am to be a Cowgirl," Booker said. "This program is committed to success on and off the field, which is incredibly special to me. Stillwater is so unique, and I have no doubt that I'll be challenged here. I'm looking forward to being surrounded by girls and coaches who have a high standard for excellence."
This is a great addition for Gajewski and Co. as they’re in need of speedy outfielders and talented hitters. And with four years of eligibility left, they’ll be able to develop her and bring her along in the growing Big 12.
Booker marks the third transfer in this class, joining Virginia tech utility player Jayden Jones and Indiana outfielder Melina Wilkison.
