Hauss Hejny’s Status up in the Air Following Apparent Injury Against UT Martin

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State quarterback, Hauss Hejny, took his first snaps as a Cowboy Thursday night against Tennessee Martin. He also completed a lot of firsts, including first rushing touchdown, completed his first pass and first passing touchdown.

He also sustained what appeared to be his first collegiate injury. Zane Flores came into the game to start the second quarter following a report from Robert Allen Hejny entered the locker room after being overly winded. His status was upgraded shortly thereafter to out for the rest of the game with a lower extremity issues. 

Head coach Mike Gundy was asked about Hejny’s status after the game, to which we really didn’t get an update.

"I won't give injury updates either way. I don't know. I never will know on those until the next day anyway, but both of those guys weren't in a position to come back. But I'll know more later."

Hejny finished the game going 5-of-10 passing for 96 yards and one touchdown with four carries for 27 yards and a touchdown.

“I thought he played well,” Gundy said of Hejny’s performance. “He moved around and was effective and made plays with his legs, which is what he does. He didn’t get to play long enough to get into a rhythm, but I thought he started out the game really well.”

It’ll be interesting to find out if we’ll know something on Hejny soon, whether he’ll be back for the second game, or if it’s something that could sideline him for an extended period of time.

The Cowboys hit the road next week as they’ll face the Oregon Ducks up in Eugene, OR, next Saturday.
