Boynton and Co. Set Virtual Visit With Transfer Jayden Gardner

STILLWATER – It’s officially transfer season and Mike Boynton and Co. are looking to take advantage and bring some playmakers to Stillwater. One of those transfers is former East Carolina forward Jayden Gardner.

According to Stockrisers’ Jake Weingarten, Gardner has talked to Arkansas, Miami, Pittsburgh, and LSU and Oklahoma State are planning on virtual meetings on Monday.

Gardner is a 6-7, 235-pound forward out of Wake Forest, N.C. who started 18 out of 19 games this past season as a junior. Gardner has had a stellar career at ECU, especially this past season as he averaged 18.3 points and 8.3 rebounds per game.

He averaged 19.7 points, 9.2 rebounds in 2019-20 and 16.3 points and 8.5 rebounds in 2018-19. So, it’s pretty easy to see why he’s one of the more sought-after transfers in the country as he’s been one of the more productive players in the country.

While the Cowboys have gotten solid production out of Kalib Boone and will continue to as he continues to improve his game, the one thing the Cowboys have missed is a physical presence down low.

That’s something that Gardner could bring to the lineup. While he’s not a “traditional big-man”, the physicality and production he’d bring would be a huge boost for the Pokes.
