STILLWATER – The latest update on the Big 12’s injury report with some of our local knowledge included, so you will be in the know going into the kickoff of the Cowboys hosting the Baylor Bears at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27.

These new mandatory injury reports are awesome and you would like to assume that all the schools are reporting as thoroughly as Oklahoma State is. Last week Utah quarterback Devon dampier missed two days of practice, yet never showed up on the injury report heading into the game with the Utes and Texas Tech.

I can tell you Oklahoma State has been more than thorough with their submission. It would lead you to think they would have problems practicing, but a number of the players listed have been out going back to last spring, but that is thorough.

We’ll start with Baylor. I have it on good authority that the three players listedd as probably will all be ready to play and that includes defensive end Devonte Tezino (6-5, 294, RS-Jr.), defensive end Cooper Lanz (6-4, 286, RS-Sr.) or are co-starters on the depth chart; and also wide receiver Broday Day, not listed on the depth chart. The only change from the initial report this week is that cornerback LeVar Thornton Jr. (6-3, 182, RS-So.) was listed doubtful from a practice injury this week and he is now listed as out.

Prominent linebackers Phoenix Jackson (6-0, 223, RS-Sr.) and Travion Barnes (6-0, 243, Sr.) are both out and likely for the season. Running back Dawson Pendergrass, who really worked over the Cowboys defense in Waco last season has been out since fall camp and is out for the season.

Oklahoma State’s list is long, but many have been out all season.

Wide receiver Talyn Shettron (knee), running back Jaden Allen-Hendrix (knee), offensive tackle Tyler Brumfield (knee), offensive guard Simona Fuailetolo (knee), freshman tight end Jordan Vyborny (knee), freshman wide receiver MaTrail Lopez (hand), freshman offensive tackle Jaylan Beckley (shoulder), and h-back Oscar Hammond (knee) are all out for the season.

Quarterback Hauss Hejny (foot), offensive guard Louie Canepa (knee), offensive tackle Markell Samuel (foot), and defensive end DeSean Brown (knee) are all due to return at some point in the season.

Oklahoma State Athletics
Noah McKinney (77) and Nuku Mafi (69) are offensive line starters that are now listed as available.

Now for the guys that will play: cornerback Jaylin Davies, star (nickel) Kenneth Harris, defensive tackle Iman Oates, slot receiver Sam Jackson V, offensive guard Noah McKinney, offensive tackle Nuku Mafi, and wide receiver Cam’Ron Heard have all been upgraded to available. Safety Parker Robertson and tight end Quinton Stewart are both still listed as probable and we believe will be available to play.

Runing back Freddie Brock IV has been upgraded to questionable from doubtful.

There will be a further update including game day, but I don’t expect any other players to become available.
