STILLWATER – Oklahoma State dropped its Big 12 opener to Baylor, 45-27, in Boone Pickens Stadium on Saturday. It marked the 12th straight loss to an FBS opponent and the 10th straight Big 12 loss. It was, however, the highest offensive output the Cowboys have had in years and the 349 yards in the first half marked the most yards from an OSU offense since the win over TCU in 2021.
Interim head coach Doug Meacham met with the media following the game to discuss the loss.
“We've had some [trick plays] in the playbook and we just felt like it's a good time to kind of let Sam [Jackson V] have his time to do some of the stuff that he can do. As y'all can see that kid can throw football. I mean, a lot of people have receivers that played eighth grade quarterback that can kind of throw it and then you got a guy who was a Power Four quarterback starter, and there's a kid I recruited, to TCU. His arm is off the chart, but he made the move to receiver. So, moving forward, I mean, if I'm a defense, he's on the field, you better back up a little bit, or base up a little bit, because that kid's a weapon, as you all saw.”
