Unbelievable How Far the Cowboys Have Fallen

Arizona is a decent football team, but by no means a Big 12 title contender, yet they roughed up the Cowboys and the offense was a standstill.

TUCSON, Ariz. – It is unbelievable that just over a year ago, Oklahoma State was ranked as high as No. 14 in the polls and the end of the 2023 season had the Cowboys winning a bowl game to go 10-4 after appearing in the Big 12 Championship Game. Those Cowboys displayed big offense, running the ball for an average of over 155-yards a game and passing for an average of over 276-yards a contest.

I hope Jimmy Harrel, Jim Hess and the mega donors are pleased. They accomplish in a year what the Daily Oklahoman tried to do the past 20 and weren't successful!
Congratulations on a job well done!

With all due respect Robert you might be the last person to the party with this take. And honestly, how fast did it really happen? We were not even a good team in 2023 either. We lost to South freaking Alabama and then Ollie went beast mode. Otherwise that would have been a disastrous year too.

Yup. Other than the 2021 season with the Knowles defense this program has been dying a slow death for a decade. Amazing that would happen with Gundy recruiting like total crap. Look at the rosters, a bunch of middling 3 stars recruits.

Go get Kinne from Texas State. They have 4 Texas top 100 recruits currently committed in this cycle, at Texas freaking State.

I've been team Kinne from the minute I heard Gundy was fired. He's the best overall candidate. I don't know about other people but I want an accomplished HEAD coach. More so than the proverbial "up and coming young coordinator on the fast track".

Robert had his head in the sand the past few years of Gundy seemingly mailing it in. Defended him when we could have fired Gundy amd saved the $15 million.

We fell because no one wanted to face the truth.

There's a chance we might never fully rebound given how the Board of Regents and the OSU President have managed this.If they were going to fire Gundy, their opportunity was last December, not September. WHO is really making the decisions? I doubt the AD or the President. WHO then?

Agreed. I'm not totally anti-Zac but it does scare me some whether he wants to recruit and how he will handle being THE guy.

Rewrite history? I have criticized Gundy for years regarding his apparent disinterest in building up the program in this new era. Robert papered over the apathy. I advocated firing Gundy for cause last season. Free up the money and get a new start. But oh no some rallied to defend Gundy. I said we are in a doom vortex with no way out. And here we are.
Only way out is for the athletic department to borrow about $55 million and hope for the best.

Robert has made this about the University President and the Board of Regents.when the real fault lies with Gundy. A good new coach and in a short time we will be playing for championships.

yes, you are one of those that have been misrepresenting the facts for your personal agenda.

now we're here, can we stop the blame game and focus on moving forward?

my only beef is with the way it was handled and the poor timing, literally stopping the development of this team, and officially ended the season. I am most unhappy with the OSU administration and their handling of the situation.

It no longer matters what anybody thinks went wrong, we're now all here treading water together.

How can we move forward? We have the Gundy and assistant $20 million albatross hanging around our necks. We had a magical exit ramp last year and didn't take it. It is going to take a miracle to dig out of this hole.

Right now we need $20 million for the December 2024 failure, $25 million for player payments, and another $10 million for coaching pay next year.

Where is it going to come from?

We were barely going to make it without the Gundy $20 million hole.
