Two of the best Group-of-Five teams in the country, coached by two very intriguing potential candidates for head coach openings including Oklahoma State, met in Denton.

STILLWATER – Saturday was full of good football across the nation, unfortunately not in Stillwater where Oklahoma State lost 39-17 to Houston. There were brief moments of fun, and I’m not talking about the shirtless fans in section 231 if Boone Pickens Stadium. It was more fun when the attention was on the field and not stunts in the stands, but I get it.

Sad, very sad, when this is a highlight of a Cowboy football Saturday.

This guy doesnt have a solid record. He was 7-6 last year and is 19-13 over all. Seems like a great idea.......NOT...... He beats below avg teams in the AAC each year and beat Florida. One win against higher level talent doesn't excite me when we need to make a seismic hire. The hire of our next coach determines whether we want to be competitive for national titles and playoff or whether we want to be consistent bowl attendees and Golesch doesnt strike me as capable enough to make us contenders.

the W/L record is only of ancillary consequence without context of the competition, what the team was composed of when the coach got there (other guys players), and whether they improved annually, or not.

but I'm with you, I'm hoping for a bit more name recognition and proven sustained success.

He is a currently a Florida guy so that would provide a strong presence in recruiting Florida. He also has a stud RPO QB with one more year of eligibility he could bring with him to provide time to rebuild the QB room. His offensive scheme mimics the 2010-2011 hay days of Cowboys football with the hurry up. His DC seems to be on top of his game/scheme as well. He will probably end up in Gainesville, however, if the Gators don't turn around their season immediately.

His football life resume is impressive. Was a Grad Assist in Stillwater in 2008 - I really like him
