Noah McKinney to Enter Transfer Portal, Will Finish Season With OSU
STILLWATER – Another Oklahoma State football player is entering the transfer portal following the firing of head coach Mike Gundy. On Thursday, it was announced by CBS Sports offensive lineman Noah McKinney is planning on entering the portal.
The interesting part of the report, however, is McKinney is planning on finishing out the season with the Cowboys.
McKinney, who checks in at 6-4, 330 pounds, is a redshirt junior who transferred into Stillwater following his freshman season at UNLV, where he redshirted. He played in all 14 games as a redshirt freshman in 2023, mostly on special teams. But he did play offensively against Cincinnati and UCF.
He played in just four games last season, Tulsa, Utah, West Virginia and Baylor, but he’s played in all six games this season.
McKinney spoke with the media following the loss to Arizona earlier this season.
“I mean it is, what it is …” McKinney said. “Guys want to be here, and guys still want to play for Oklahoma State and still want to represent the brand of what Oklahoma State is. Just [because] coach Gundy is gone doesn’t mean that you can’t represent what Oklahoma State football is, so for the guys that are still here and doing it we’re just going to fight and battle our ass off until the end.”
McKinney playing out the rest of the season hopefully gives the new coaching staff a chance to keep him on next season’s roster.
The Cowboys are back in action this coming Saturday as they host Cincinnati for Homecoming. Kickoff time is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT on ESPN2.
