STILLWATER – Oklahoma State is set to travel up to Lawrence, KS, for a showdown against the Kansas Jayhawks this coming Saturday, November 1. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. on ESPN+. Interim head coach Doug Meacham met with the media on Monday to put a bow on the loss to Texas Tech and look ahead to Kansas.

“OK, so for us, we're just moving ahead, forging ahead, going onto the next one,” Meacham said in his opening statement. “Particularly defensively, there's a little bit of some energy over there. Based on what they did, they did some nice things and held Tech to their lowest-rushing total. And I think the only other team to hold them under 400 was Arizona State. So, there's a little bit of some confidence going on over there, some guys wanting to join in.

“Plus, we're going to have an infusion of some freshmen, some guys that haven't played, that can play in the last four games and still garner a red shirt. So, we'll get five or six or seven or some odd players out there on some special teams and help us with some offensively and defensively.”

Meacham also said there’s going to be quite a few freshmen playing in the last four games of the season to get some experience and game on tape.

“Carl’veon Young, I kind of would like to see him. [Matrail] Lopez, the receiver. Those two guys are very athletic. Carl’veon was at Carl Albert and was a high jumper athlete. His brother, I think at one point, was committed here in basketball. But those two guys are long, athletic, young, just great kids. I’m looking forward to seeing those two guys out there, amongst a few others.”

Meacham would continue with, “[Lopez] could be a guy that could play and give us some minutes at receiver. I think what we gotta figure out is if that’s inside or outside. He's kind of got that body where he can do both. He's got a skill set where he can play inside, but he's just long enough to be able to play and do some things outside. He can run. He made people miss. And for a kid his age, I hate that his hand got hurt, but it's gonna be good for him to get out there and get some game-time experience. And you know, he's got four games.”
