STILLWATER – Oklahoma State is looking to finally get back into the win column on Saturday as they play host to Kansas State on Saturday. The Pokes are riding a 15-game Big 12 losing streak, while the Wildcats are looking to get bowl eligible after a rough start to the year. They’ll still need one more win in order to do so, but that makes the game on Saturday that much more important for the Cats.
Can the Pokes snap a losing streak and keep the Cats out of a bowl? Here are our five stat predictions for the game. We do two offensive, two defensive and one special teams. Please put your choices down in the comment section if you think Over/Under, or you can push if you think they’ll hit it spot on.
Over/Under 200 passing yards: The Cowboys are coming off an open week following the 38-21 road loss to Kansas. But in the game, quarterback Zane Flores threw for 235 yards and two touchdowns on 22-of-28 passing, the best game of his career up to his point. As a team, the Wildcats are giving up nearly 224 passing yards per game. Can Flores and the other Pokes combine for at least 200 passing yards?
Over/Under 4.0 yards per carry: If the Cowboys want a chance to win any game, they need to be able to run the ball. On the season, the Cowboys are averaging 3.5 yards per carry, while the Wildcats are holding opponents to 3.8 yards per carry. Can the Cowboys combine for at least 4.0 yards per carry with the Cats’ starting linebacker, Austin Romaine, being out for the year with injury?
Over/Under 160 rushing yards allowed: The Cowboys will have a tall task ahead of them on Saturday with talented running quarterback, Avery Johnson. He’s the second-leading rusher for the Cats with 81 carries for 455 yards and seven touchdowns. As a team, the Cats are averaging just 141.2 yards per game on the ground, with the Pokes giving up 169.6 rushing YPG. Can the Cowboys hold the Cats to under 160 rushing yards?
Over/Under two forced turnovers: The Cowboys have recorded three interceptions and forced six fumbles on the season. KSU has combined for five interceptions thrown and 10 lost fumbles. Can the Cowboys force at least two turnovers?
Over/Under 43 yards net average per punt: One of the few bright spots this season has been punter Wes Pahl. Through 49 punts, Pahl is averaging 46.1 yards per punt, with 21 fair catches and 17 50+ yard punts. Can he average at least 43 yards per punt against the Cats?
