STILLWATER – Doug Meacham met with the media on Monday to put a bow on the K-State game and to look ahead to UCF.

The Cowboys are looking to snap a 16-game Big 12 losing streak, while the Knights are currently 1-6 in Big 12 play.

Here’s what he had to say about the game on Saturday.

“It says a lot about the team, and I want to give him full credit. There may not be a fan alive that really cares about much of that - there probably is, I'll take that back - but in general, it's about wins and losses, period. And we haven't won much. Moral victories aren't really fun to talk about with most of the fan base or anybody really.

“But since we're talking about it, if you look at us defensively, what Clint Bowen has done the last three games … They have given up 323 yards a game. In the last four or five games, they’ve consistently decreased the amount of yards our opponent has got for five weeks in a row and gotten better with a fairly not so deep group of guys.

“You look at guys like Parker Robinson. Who wanted him? No one. The guy has a pick, led the team in tackles. I think he had a sack or tackle for loss. He embodies what fans really love about football. I’m super excited to see a great kid have good things happen to him. No one gave a second thought to him coming out of high school, you know. To come from a different state and pay out of state tuition at the time? Holy crap. I know my parents would have been a definite no.

“Him and Kenneth Harris, I know he gave up a couple. They targeted him a lot and he did pretty well with some of the deep balls. He made some tackles. (Bryan) McCoy has always been a constant, solid player in the middle there. I’m just really proud of what they've done. Moving forward, I think they probably end up doing it again. My hat’s off to those guys. I'm really pleased with how Clint Bowen has taken the reins and done what they've done with, arguably, maybe some guys that a lot of people would probably not sign. So my hat’s off to him.

“It's really easy to be at LSU and Bama with those guys and put up some good defensive numbers. So nothing against our players, but we are a pretty thin unit and they've done a great job.

“Offensively, they did a great job too. They moved the ball well. I think they had 373 (yards), We just had three unfortunate plays there that, if one of them doesn't occur, we may win the game, Just one of those three. I’m just pleased in a lot of areas, but it's just frustrating that just a couple of things will keep you from winning.”
