STILLWATER – It appears Oklahoma State has its new defensive coordinator. According to a report from CBS Sports, Eric Morris is bringing Skyler Cassity from North Texas in the same role as defensive coordinator.

Cassity has spent the past season as the Mean Green DC, as he was hired December 2024 from Sam Houston, where he spent the 2024 season in the same role.

During his lone year in Denton, Cassity’s defense held offenses to just 24.9 points per game, doing about nine points per game in 2024. The allowed just over 370 yards per game, which was good for 64th in the country. That’s down from 460 yards last year.

Cassity was the DC at Abilene Chrisitan in 2022 and 2023, linebackers/nickels/safeties coach at Missouri State in 2020 and 2021, where he coached against the Cowboys.

His first stop of his coaching tenure was a student assistant at Auburn from 2014-16, a grad assistant at Texas State in 2016 and a grad assistant at Texas Tech 2017-19.

He’s the older brother of former OSU player Braden Cassity and the son of former OSU defensive coordinator Mike Cassity.

With the Mean Green’s loss to Tulane in the AAC title game Friday night, Morris will be getting his staff together quickly, with all parties arriving in Stillwater as soon as possible to prepare for the portal class in January and to try and retain as many players from the current roster as possible.
