STILLWATER – Eric Morris and Co. have added a kicker out of the transfer portal. On Wednesday evening, SMU transfer kicker, Sam Keltner, took to social media and announced he’s chosen Oklahoma State.

He joins his long snapper, Nolan Akins, who transferred from SMU over the weekend.

Keltner is originally out of Keller, TX., and is entering his redshirt sophomore year. He didn’t record any stats as a true freshman in 2024 but was decent as a young kicker this past fall. He played in 14 games as the Mustangs’ kickoff specialist and field goal kicker.

He attempted 76 kickoffs for an average of 62.4 yards per boot, with 42 of the kicks being touchbacks and only one going out of bounds.

This past season for the Pokes, redshirt senior kicker Logan Ward had 25 kickoff attempts for an average of 60.2 yards per boot and just two touchbacks. Redshirt senior punter Wes Pahl had 20 attempts for an average of 62.3 yards per boot, with 10 touchbacks and two out of bounds.

As far as field goals are concerned, Keltner was 14-of-20, with a long of 51 yards. He was also 36-of-38 on extra points. Logan Ward was 15-of-20 on FGs and 17-of-17 on extra points.

Keltner is the 26th player to commit to the Pokes out of the transfer portal.
