STILLWATER – On her birthday, Haleigh Timmer dropped 12 points to help the Cowgirls upset the 16th-ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders. The Cowgirls knocked off the Lady Raiders 75-65.  Oklahoma State got their 20th win of the season and are now 20-7 and  9-5 in the Big 12. Texas Tech is 23-4 and 10-4 in the conference.

The Red Raiders put pressure on the Cowgirls from the very start, but Timmer and the Pokes were ready for the challenge. She was all over the place, getting herself to the line two times and making all four of her free throws.

Timmer, playing on her birthday, made sure the Cowgirls understood how important a win would be for her and the team as a whole. Coach Jacie Hoyt had a feeling Timmer would have a solid outing, following an early made three-pointer in the first quarter.

"I told the team, we have to win because it's my birthday and we delivered," Timmer said.

Timmer, new to the team this season, has bought in completely and understands how big these wins are, especially to bounce back following a loss. Against Texas Tech, she contribulted 12 points, four rebounds, two assists, and played suffocating defense.

"I think we all know what we're capable of and all know what we want this season," Timmer said. "And so, I think just getting back on track, especially against Tech, being a ranked team, we knew we had to rise to the occasion."

While everything on the court went according to plan, Timmer and the rest of the Cowgirls were playing for something bigger than themselves; the fight against cancer.

"We know that Kay Yow was a legend and fought through so much and I think that gave us more to fight for today," Timmer said "And just all the survivors and people that are battling, and those who have lost, and just honoring all those people, all the strong women."
