Cowgirls Win Big 12 Women's Golf Championship in Record Fashion
Oklahoma State fired a 54-hole score of 830 to claim its 10th Big 12 Women’s Golf Championship title and 24th conference crown overall. The Cowgirls set three tournament team records over the three rounds, including their final tally to finish at 34-under par at the 6,314-yard, par-72 Tom Fazio Championship Course at The Club of Carlton Woods.
Coach Greg Robertson’s squad held the lead all three days to win the title by 16 strokes and claim the Big 12’s automatic qualification into the NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championship. Texas Tech, coached by Robertson’s younger sister, JoJo, climbed two spots on the final day to finish in second at 846. Baylor placed third at 847 followed by Oklahoma in fourth at 848. Texas also finished the tournament under-par to round out the top five with a score of 854.
Gala Dumez captured the Red Raiders’ first Big 12 Championship individual title with a final score of 202 (-14). Entering the final round tied for the lead, Dumez fired a 67 to hold off the field. OSU’s Maja Stark was two strokes back in second at 204. Baylor’s Gurleen Kaur finished third at 205. The top 10 places, including ties were named to the All-Big 12 Tournament Team. A total of 17 players finished the Championship with scores under-par.
The NCAA Women’s Golf Selection Show is scheduled for April 28 at 1 p.m. CT and will be televised by the Golf Channel.
