STILLWATER – Oklahoma State wrestling signee Dreshaun Ross has been named the Bob Steenlage Iowa High School Wrestler of the Year. The National Wrestling Hall of Fame (Iowa branch) Dan Gable Museum announced on Tuesday.

The award is named after the first-ever four-time Iowa high school wrestling state champion and is presented annually to the top high school wrestler in Iowa.

Ross finishing his high school career at the Iowa High School State Championships.

Ross finished one of the most dominant careers in Iowa high school wrestling history this past season as a four-time state champion at Fort Dodge High School. He was dominant in every respect winning each match this season by either fall or tech fall. His career record in high school finished at 146-2 with a 144-match win streak.

Wrestling freestyle and folkstyle in national competition, Ross earned six Tulsa Nationals titles and won the prestigious Trinity Award five times. His success began early, capturing the 2022 16U Nationals title at just 14 years old, along with 15U Greco-Roman and Freestyle national championships.

He is currently ranked No. 1 in the heavyweight division nationally and will carry that prowess to Oklahoma State. Konner Doucet has graduated after being the starter at heavyweight. Doucet finished fourth at the NCAA championships and was an All-American.

The Cowboys 2026 recruiting class also includes Jordyn (149) and Jayden Raney (133) of Union County, Ky; Michael White (184/197) of Lawrence North High School in Indiana; Rocklin Zinken (125/133) of Buchanan, Calf; Kaden Purler (141/149) of North Point High School in Missouri; and Luke Hamiti (165) of Stillwater. Ross is ranked No. 4 on the prospect list, the Raneys are No. 5 and No. 6 repectively, and White is ranked No. 40.

Remember too, originally Jax Forrest was in this class before he graduated and enrolled in January to go on and win the NCAA Championship.
