Oklahoma State Beats Stanford 7-2, Stays Perfect in Stillwater Regional
STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State Cowgirls picked up their second win in the NCAA Stillwater Regional as they beat Stanford 7-2.
With the win, the Cowgirls improved to 40-15 overall on the season and are now just one win away from advancing to an NCAA Super Regional against the winner of the Nebraska Regional.
Pitcher Ruby Meylan got the start and earned the win as she posted yet another complete game, giving up just four hits and two runs, both earned, with three strikeouts and one walk. She improved to 28-7 on the season with the win.
All seven of the Pokes’ runs came on home runs, a three-run shot from both Karli Godwin and Tia Warsop and a solo shot by Rosie Davis.
All three hits were their only hits of the game, but were obviously game changers as Davis put the Pokes on the board first in the bottom of the first inning.
Godwin’s three-run shot came in the bottom of the third inning, scoring both Libby Jaques and Aubrey Jones. Warsop’s three-run shot came in the bottom of the sixth inning to effectively put the game out of reach, her second home run of the season.
First pitch for Sunday’s game will be at 3 p.m. and the Pokes will face the winner of Stanford and Eastern Illinois/Princeton. Eastern Illinois and Princeton started their elimination game at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, with Stanford facing the winner of that game in an elimination game at 6 p.m. Saturday.
