TULSA, Okla. – Safety Bryson “B.B” Brown is Oklahoma State football’s second commitment this week and the third overall in the 2027 class. He joins quarterback pledge Carson White of Iowa Colony, Texas and slot receiver Cooper Hooker, a 4.4 speedster from Salina, Okla. who is now at Pryor (OK) HS.

The suspense was there, but there was a strong suspicion Eric Morris and Co. could add their third commitment in the 2027 cycle. Brown, a safety at Broken Arrow, let it be known earlier this week he was going to make his recruiting decision public on Saturday, May 23.

When we visited with him after the Tigers spring practice on Tuesday, he let us know that Fixin’s Soul Kitchen on Detroit Street just off downtown would be the site. As much as the menu is interesting and delicious, the news was this: Bryson Brown has committed to the Pokes over another scheduled visit to Kansas, possibly a visit to Arkansas, and offers from Auburn, Florida State, Kentucky, Miami (Fla.), Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State, South Carolina, Texas A&M, UCLA and more.

In all, there were more than 30 offers.

Brown was introduced by his head coach at Broken Arrow in Travis Hill calling this Brown’s special day as he tossed it to one of his top defenders. Brown then started by thanking God with whom “nothing would be possible.” He then thanked all of his coaches along the way including Hill, thanked his father and mother, sister and brothers and then …

“The next three to four years I will be spending at Oklahoma State University,” Brown finished the thought that everybody came to hear and that many, including Pokes Report, had suspected.

Brown is a speedster who posted a 10.89 100-meters in the State Track Meet. On the football field, he had 32 tackles last season for the Tigers. He is a bigger and physical safety who is 6-1, 185 pounds. He can also line up at corner or nickel.

“I felt it was time and I needed to make a commitment,” Brown told Pokes Report. “It all goes faster, everything is turned up. I felt a connection with Oklahoma State and all of the coaching staff. Like this week with Coach Cassity, Coach Malone, and Coach Gordon all over at practice. I feel comfortable with everybody and with the school and Stillwater.”

If there is a negative it would be that Brown intends to make his visits, which includes Oklahoma State on June 4. His teammate, Noah Gillespie, is scheduled to visit the Cowboys that same weekend. It is no secret OSU would like to get both of them.

“I’m still going to be going on my visits, going on the OVs,” Brown added. “I wanted to lock down a school for sure.”

Oklahoma State might want to take a peek at the fare for Brown’s commitment event at Fixins’. He and I talked about it and the catfish, chicken and waffles, collared greens with turkey neck, black-eyed peas, red beans and rice, and corn muffins would all be good on the recruiting visit dinner menu.

Hey, Brown told me he was at Fixins’ because his momma told him the food was good. Momma knows best and let’s hope she as sold on Oklahoma State as the menu for the pledge announcement.
