“We just ran out of gas,” Kenny Gasjewski said.” I can just honestly say I think Ruby [Meylan’s] out of gas. We rode her to get here and I’m thankful for all she poured into this place. I’m thankful for (Audrey Schneidmiller and Lexi McDonald), these are two of my favorite kids I’ll be talking about for a long time.”
Pitcher Ruby Meylan earned the loss as she went just over four innings, allowing six runs, all of them earned, on seven hits across 24 batters faced. She recorded two strikeouts and two walks.
“Don’t let the scoreboard define us,” added Gajewski. “We got just got our butts kicked. It’s just part of this, but she’s out of gas. I just could tell. I think we all could tell ... again, we’re not here in this spot if it’s not for her, the way she’s carried us so I couldn’t be more proud.”
RyLee Crandall came on in relief in the fifth inning, giving up three earned runs and two hits.
Offensively as a team, the Cowgirls combined for three hits, with Lexi McDonald, Amanda Hasler and Audrey Schneidmiller all recording one hit apiece. They collectively struck out nine times.
The Pokes’ lone run of the game came on a single by McDonald, scoring Rosie Davis.
