Austin, Texas — The Oklahoma State softball team improved to 37-6 (12-1 Big 12) on the year with a 3-1 series opening victory against the Texas Longhorns. Carrie Eberle earned the start in the circle for the Cowgirls and went the distance, picking up her 17th victory on the year. Eberle gave up just one earned run, struck out four, and issued no walks in the outing.

Oklahoma State had six hits on the day, all coming off the bats of different Cowgirls. The Cowgirls got off to a hot start, scoring two runs in the first inning off of Sydney Pennington and Hayley Busby doubles.

The starting pitchers eventually settled in, before Texas got a run back in the fourth inning on a solo home run. Alysen Febrey tacked on a solo home run of her own in the sixth inning, her 13th long ball of the season.

Febrey, Busby, and Pennington led the Cowgirl offense, each recording one hit and RBI.

The Oklahoma State defense was also on display, as they turned three double plays against the Longhorns and committed no errors.

OSU is scheduled to be back in action tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. CT for game two of the series with Texas.
