Austin, Texas — Oklahoma State softball improved to 38-6 (13-1 Big 12) with a 5-1 victory against the Longhorns on Saturday.

Kelly Maxwell drew the start in the circle for the Cowgirls and earned her 14th victory of the season. Maxwell allowed just one earned run on two hits and fanned nine Longhorn hitters.

Oklahoma State and Texas exchanged runs in the third inning, before the Cowgirl offense put up three runs in the fourth. Two of the runs in the fourth game off a Chelsea Alexander two-run double.

OSU tacked on an insurance run in the seventh to secure the series-clinching victory.

Alexander (2-for-4, 2 RBI) and Karli Petty (2-for-4) led the Cowgirl offense on the day.

Alysen Febrey, Sydney Pennington and Michaela Richbourg also contributed to the Cowgirls seven hits against Texas.

Pennington launched her eighth home run of the season, moving her into a tie for second on OSU's career home run list.

Oklahoma State will look to sweep the series against the Longhorns tomorrow at 12 p.m. CT. The game will be streamed live on Longhorn Network.
