STILLWATER – Oklahoma State head coach Eric Morris met with the media on Tuesday for his first pregame press conference on the season. The Cowboys are on the road to start the season this Saturday against Tulsa.
“[It’s been] well-documented they were able to come in this place, and they were able to win the football game last year, and so with that being said, I think both teams, there's so many new players on both sides. How much can you play into that? I don't know. Obviously in the state of Oklahoma, though, to be able to travel to Tulsa, we have a ton of alumni.
"And it's the first time our fanbase has been able to see it. Like, we've won the press conference this offseason, and we got a lot of accolades, preseason accolades. I told the players the other day, like, I don't really care about preseason accolades. It's what happens at the end of the season, and hopefully we can match up. Will there be nerves, will there be anxiety, is it gonna be hot -- all those different things, like absolutely. That's what football is, and these kids have the opportunity to go out there and perform on the big stage on ESPN. So, what a great opportunity, I think, for both programs right now to put their best foot forward and be able to start the season off in the right ways.
"Super excited to see our guys compete. Super excited to finally get into this week. I thought we had a phenomenal Tuesday practice this morning. I thought we were outside trying to match the heat. Obviously, we were a morning practice team, so it's not quite 100 degrees like it's supposed to be on Saturday afternoon at 2:45 (p.m.) -- 2:50, I think they moved the game back, slid it back to 2:50. So, yeah, super excited to see where we're at as a program."
