Oklahoma State Snaps 19-Game Big 12 Losing Streak With 41-24 Win Over West Virginia

Oklahoma State snapped a 19-game Big 12 losing streak as the Pokes beat the West Virginia Mountaineers 41-24.
With the win, the Cowboys improved to 3-1 on the season, 1-0 in Big 12 play and have now won six in a row in Morgantown dating back to 2015.
The three-headed monster of quarterback Drew Mestemaker, running back Caleb Hawkins and wide receiver Wyatt Young had a great game against the Mountaineers. Mestemaker went 20-of-27 for 389 yards passing with three touchdowns and one interception, while Hawkins had 31 carries for 180 yards and one touchdown. Young had his best game of the season as he had eight catches for 192 yards and one touchdown, the most receiving yards in the game since Dillion Stoner in 2020.
As a team, the Cowboys combined for 609 yards of total offense, 389 passing and 220 yards rushing. That’s 243 more yards than what WVU had allowed in a game all season and 101 more rushing yards.
The Pokes averaged 19.5 yards per completion and 5.4 yards per rush. They went 5-for-5 in the red zone, two of which came on field goals from Sam Keltner, who went 4-for-4 with kicks of 30 yards, 19, 29 and 47, the last coming with 2:46 left in the game.
On the flip side, the Pokes held the Mountaineers to 466 yards of offense, 132 passing and 334 rushing yards. The Pokes went just 2-for-10 on 3rd down, while WVU went 9-of-17.
The Pokes were really good in the second half as they forced four-straight turnovers to end the game, one punt and three turnovers on down.
Linebacker Ethan Wesloski led both sides in tackles with 16 total stops, seven of which were solo stops, 0.5 sacks and 0.5 tackles for loss. Tate Romney and Quinton Hammonds each had 12 stops and Mose Phillips finished with 11 stops and one interception.
