Game Flow

• West Virginia held a 14-3 lead early in the second quarter, but OSU closed the first half on a 10-0 run thanks to a Sam Keltner 19-yard field goal and a Drew Mestemaker-to-Justin Bowick 21-yard touchdown, which brought the halftime score to 14-13 in favor of WVU.
• The second half belonged to the Cowboys, who outscored West Virginia, 28-10, after the break.
• Oklahoma State quarterback Drew Mestemaker completed 11-of-14 passes for 274 yards and two touchdowns after halftime. Mestemaker completed 7-of-8 passes for 225 yards in the third quarter alone.
• The Oklahoma State defense produced three turnovers on downs and a punt on West Virginia’s final four drives of the game.

Game Notes

• Drew Mestemaker, Caleb Hawkins and Wyatt Young continue to perform as one of the nation’s most explosive offensive trios, with Mestemaker passing for 389 yards, Hawkins rushing for 180 yards and Young piling up 192 receiving yards. It marked the second time this season that trio went 300-100-100, with the first coming against Oregon in week two.
• Drew Mestemaker completed 20-of-27 passes for 389 yards and three touchdowns. His 389 passing yards extended his FBS-best streak with at least 200 yards passing to 19 games.
• It was Mestemaker’s third consecutive 300-yard passing game and the eighth 300-yard passing game of his career.
• Saturday’s performance marked the first time that Oklahoma State eclipsed 40 points in a Big 12 road game since beating Houston, 43-30, in 2023.
• Oklahoma State finished with 609 yards of total offense – the most for OSU against a Big 12 opponent since going for 682 yards against TCU in 2021. It was the most for OSU in a Big 12 road game since 2018, when the Cowboys piled up 640 yards of offense against Oklahoma in Norman.
• It marked the third consecutive game the Cowboys exceeded 500 yards of total offense. The last time OSU had 500+ yards of total offense in three consecutive games was the first three games of the 2019 season. For perspective, Oklahoma State had no games of 500+ yards in 2025 and only two in 2024.
• When Oklahoma State defensive end Keviyan Huddleston tipped a pass at the line of scrimmage and safety Mose Phillips III intercepted it, it marked the first pass West Virginia had intercepted all season. West Virginia entered the game ranked third nationally with a pass efficiency rating of 217.22. It was Phillips’ first interception for OSU and the second of his career.
• Oklahoma State linebacker Ethan Wesloski finished with a season-high 17 tackles. By halftime, he had 11, which was the most for a Cowboy in a game this season. 
• West Virginia entered the game ranked sixth nationally by averaging 281.3 rushing yards per game. The Mountaineers ran for 334 yards Saturday.
• OSU’s first three opponents (Tulsa, Oregon and Murray State) rushed for a combined total of 300 yards.
• West Virginia entered the game ranked fourth nationally by limiting its opponents to a 55.6 percent scoring rate in the red zone. The Cowboys scored on all five of their red zone trips.
