Oklahoma State Enters USA Coaches Poll Following Win Over UCF

The Cowboys climbed yet again following a second Big 12 win.

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State has joined the USA Today Coaches Poll for the first time this season at No. 20 following the 42-28 win over UCF on Saturday.

They stayed put at No. 18 in the AP Top 25.

The other Big 12 teams who are ranked in the coaches poll are: No. 8 BYU, No. 9 Texas Tech, No. 11 Utah and No. 18 Houston. The Cougars are at No. 20 in the AP.

The Cowboys are coming off a 42-28 win over UCF in the Big 12 home opener in Boone Pickens Stadium on Saturday. It moved them to 4-1 on the season and 2-0 in Big 12 play for the first time since 2022.

Quarterback Drew Mestemaker went 19-of-28 for 304 yards and two touchdowns. He connected with six different receivers, with Justin Bowick leading the way with six catches for 98 yards and one touchdown. Wyatt Young was next on the stat sheet with five catches for 52 yards and a score.

Caleb Hawkins was able to move the ball on the ground has he had 23 carries for 83 yards. 

Linebackers Ethan Wesloski and Tate Romney led the way for both teams in tackles with 17 and 14 tackles respectively. 

The Cowboys are back in action this coming Saturday on the road at No. 18/20 Houston. The Cougars just crushed Kansas State 35-16 in Manhattan to move to 5-1 on the season and 2-1 in Big 12 play. Their lone loss came to then ranked No. 12 Texas Tech.
