STILLWATER – It was a tale of two halves for Oklahoma State as the Cowboys figured a lot of things out at halftime to pull away with a 57-24 Homecoming win over Colorado.

With the win, the Cowboys improved to 5-2 overall on the season and 3-1 in Big 12 play.

Quarterback Drew Mestemaker had one of his best games this season as he went 21-of-36 for 386 yards and four touchdowns. It was receiver Justin Bowick who led the way as he finished with five catches for 138 yards and one touchdown. Hawkins, Wyatt Young and Morgan McPhaul all finished with a receiving touchdown.

Running back Caleb Hawkins cleared 100 rushing yards for the first time this season as he finished with 19 carries for 120 yards. Tre Page III and Williams Mason each finished with a rushing touchdown.

The Cowboys combined for 598 yards of total offense, 410 through the air and 188 on the ground.

While the offensive performance was no doubt impressive, it was kicker Sam Keltner once again who kept the Cowboys in the ball game in the first half and helped turn things around. He made three field goals in the first half of 47 yards, 30 and 41 respectively to make it 24-21 going into the break.

Enter defensive adjustments. On the first play from the line of scrimmage in the third quarter, defensive tackle Jerry Lawson stripped the ball away from CU QB Isaac Wilson, which was recovered by Quinton Hammonds at the CU 22-yard line and returned to the 13.

The Cowboys got into the end zone just three plays later on a three-yard pass from Mestemaker to TE Morgan McPhaul to give the Pokes their first lead since the 8:48 mark of the second quarter.

It was two second-half interceptions for corner LaDainian Fields as he recorded one with 3:54 left in the third quarter, leading to another Keltner field goal. His second was midway through the fourth quarter and led to another Keltner field goal, this one from 30 yards out to make it 50-24.

Thanks to a solid defensive effort, the Cowboys outscored the Buffs 34-0 in the second half.

The Cowboys are back in action next Saturday as they hit the road for a 6 p.m. CT kick against Iowa State in Ames, IA on Halloween night.
