Oklahoma State Gets a Recruiting Flip from Stillwater's Bryson Brown
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State head football coach Eric Morris has said for several weeks that his staff, both football and recruiting, was looking to put some names up and add to the 2027 recruiting class. Morris mentioned getting in-state players to flip. The Cowboys got a hometown player to do that on Wednesday night as Stillwater Pioneers linebacker Bryson Brown flipped his commitment from Baylor to Oklahoma State. Brown made the announcement on Instagram and it was also put out quickly by former Stillwater News-Press beat writer Ben Hutchins, who is now with The Oklahoman.
Brown’s change of heart and mind developed after Baylor dismissed head coach Dave Aranda on Sunday morning following the Bears 25-24 loss at Kansas on Saturday. The interim Baylor head coach is defensive coordinator Joe Klandermann.
This season, Brown has 58 tackles so far for the top-ranked team in Class 6A-II. Brown also has a pair of sacks, two fumbles forced, and a fumble recovered. The Pioneers are 5-2 and 3-0 in district competition. They will be at Tulsa Booker T. Washington on Friday night. Here is a link to Hudl highlights from Brown in Stillwater’s win over Muskogee.
The 6-1, 200 pound Brown had three offers before committing to Baylor in January. Brown had offers from Oklahoma State and Purdue. He had drawn big attention from his junior season with the Pioneers as he had 86 total tackles, 20 tackles-for-loss, seven sacks, and an interception. He also played varsity as a sophomore going both ways at linebacker and running back.
Brown is the 14 th commitment for Oklahoma State in the 2027 class. He is the sixth commitment on the defensive side of the ball and the second linebacker with fellow in-state linebacker Israel “Izzy” Hammons from Choctaw. Bryson is also the second Bryson Brown on the defensive commitment list as he joins Broken Arrow safety Bryson “BB” Brown.
