Sergio Vega moves up to 149 pounds.

All three of the individual champions from last season in Jax Forrest (133), Sergio Vega (141), Landon Robideau (157) will wrestle, with Vega at a new weight class (149). There are some sensational newcomers and freshmen that will be on the mat. Two of the other All-Americans will wrestle. The Cowboys have seven individually-ranked wrestlers that will be in action.

Quick Notes:

Sergio Vega, who did not allow a takedown all season in 25-26 will be at 149 pounds. He is a returning NCAA champion, but at that weight is preseason ranked No. 2.

The two most anticipated debuts by freshmen will be Dreshaun Ross at heavyweight (285) as returning All-American Konner Doucet is with Team Hendrickson in Kazakhstan for the Senior World Championships. Wyatt Hendrickson won his first four matches but was defeated in the semifinals and will wrestle for the bronze medal. The other highly anticipated debut will be Young Jaden Raney as one of the five OSU wrestlers at Vega’s vacated spot of 141 pounds.

Both Dee Lockett ranked No. 5 preseason and returnign All-American Casey Swiderski will be at 165 pounds. That will be interesting.

Top-rated wrestlers from other schools includes No. 3 Stephen Little of Little Rock at 197, who wrestles for former Cowboy Neil Erisman. No. 9 T.K. Davis of Gardner-Webb and No. 23 Marcel Lopez of SIU-Edwardsville, both at 133 pounds. Brock Herman of Little Rock is ranked No. 12 at 149 pounds. At 165 pounds, Brock Woodcock of SIU-Edwardsville is ranked No. 27. Then at heavyweight Bryson Buhk of SIU-Edwardsville is ranked No. 31.
