Oklahoma State scored more points in Manhattan than it ever has before as the Cowboys beat Kansas State, 66-28.

With the win, the Cowboys improved to 6-3 overall on the season, 4-2 in Big 12 play and became bowl eligible for the first time since 2023.

The 66 points is the most the Pokes have ever scored against a KSU team, clearing the previous of 56 points they recorded twice, both in Stillwater.

Both sides of the ball had dominant performances as the Pokes put up 565 yards of total offense, 342 through the air and 223 on the ground. They had 29 first downs to just 16 by the Wildcats, went 4-for-7 on 3rd down attempts and averaged 8.8 yards per play, 6.6 yards per rush and 14.3 yards per pass. On defense, the Pokes held the Wildcats to just 327 yards of offense, 200 through the air and 127 yards on the ground. The Cats averaged just 4.5 yards per play, 3.3 yards per rush and 11.8 yards per pass.

But it was running back Caleb Hawkins who was the offensive catalyst for the Pokes. He finished the game with 20 carries for 175 yards and three rushing touchdowns, putting him over the 1,000-yard mark on the season with 1,081 yards and seven rushing touchdowns. He also had six catches for 71 yards and a touchdown.

Quarterback Drew Mestemaker was great as well as he went 22-of-28 for 313 yards and four touchdowns with one interception. He also had three carries for 11 yards and a touchdown.

He also caught a touchdown pass from five yards out from Wyatt Young on a reverse pass, the Stilly Special, to give Mestemaker three different touchdowns scored in the game.

Mestemaker is now first in school history with the most games with at least 300 passing yards with eight.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Cowboys had several great performances, starting with fill-in starting linebacker, Isaiah Chisom. He got the start with Tate Romney on the injured list, recording a team-high 11 total tackles, nine of which were solo stops, one tackles for loss and one quarterback hurry.

Corner LaDainian Fields entered this game tied for the FBS lead in interceptions with five. He then proceeded to record two picks against the Wildcats, giving him the nation’s lead. Safety Quinton Hammonds also recorded an interception in the game.

The Pokes had seven touchdown drives in the first half alone, and just three that resulted didn’t, two-straight turnovers on a fumble by Wyatt Young and pick six by Mestemaker and a punt. They had just one drive that didn’t result in a score in the second half.

The Cowboys are back in action next weekend as they’ll play host to Texas Tech.
