STILLWATER – There was one Oklahoma playoff bracket that needed a coin flip to decide the final two participants as Gore, Liberty, and Central Sallisaw representatives had to meet at midnight at the Catfish Roundup in Seminole, Okla. for a three way flip. Gore’s coin was heads and Central Sallisaw and Liberty came up tails to put those two in the Class A-II playoffs. Gore was out. The news for Oklahoma State’s five in-state football commitments is more reserved as four of the future Cowboys will have bye weeks this next week in round one. That includes to two pledges in Class 6A-I, the highest class in the state.

Brown’s game clinching interception against Bixby.

We were at Husky Stadium in Edmond on Thursday night to see unbeaten top seed Broken Arrow finish a perfect regular season 10-0/6-0 with a 56-39 win over Edmond North. One of the heroes of the win the week before over previously No. 1 Bixby, corner Bryson “BB” Brown is an Oklahoma State commitment.

“We are showing the rest of the state that somebody else can win the championship,” Brown said. “We are moving on, moving forward in the playoffs.”

Broken Arrow will have bye before hosting the winner of Edmond North at Moore on Friday, Nov. 20 in a quarterfinal game.

On the other side of the bracket is Jenks. The Trojans finished 7-2/6-0 with a win on Halloween Eve over Moore 42-14. Now Cowboys pledge and jumbo offensive guard Odaefe Oruru will be off this week as well. After a first round bye, Jenks will host the winner of Yukon at Norman North in a quarterfinal game on Friday, Nov. 20. The other two teams with byes in Class 6A-I are Owasso and Bixby.

The latest in-state commitment is Stillwater linebacker Bryson Brown, who flipped his pledge from Baylor to the Cowboys a little over a week ago, was part of a major butt kicking on Friday when the Pioneers clinched district with a 76-12 win over previously unbeaten Bartlesville. Stillwater finishes 7-2/5-0 and earns a bye in week one of the Class 6A-II playoffs.

Stillwater will host a quarterfinal game at Pioneer Stadium on Friday, Nov. 20 against the winner of Ponca City at Putnam City this Friday, Nov. 13. Brown had over 70 tackles this season, 16 tackles-for-loss, five sacks, and a fumble recovered and two forced. He also caught three passes on offense for 17-yards.

Hammons, who was doing a little strength training according to his Twitter, will get a bye in the first round of the Class 6A-II playoffs. Choctaw, who finished 8-2/6-0 with a 63-6 win on Thursday at Lawton Eisenhower will sit out this week and then host a quarterfinal game at Choctaw on Friday, Nov. 20 against the winner of Putnam City North at Muskogee.

Cooper Hooker from Pryor is an OSU commitment at slot receiver.

Then Pryor and slot receiver commitment Cooper Hooker will open the playoffs at Del City on Friday, Nov. 13 in a Class 5A first round game. The winner will play the next week against the winner of Lawton at Newcastle. Pryor finished 6-4 on the season and Hooker, who moved to Pryor from Salina, led the Tigers in receiving with 837-yards and he averaged 93-yards receiving a game. He had 68 receptions and seven touchdowns.
