Lot of Sadness with this Announcement as John Paul Richardson Announces TCU
STILLWATER – Despite knowing that there was a family discussion earlier this week about pulling his name from the NCAA Transfer Portal, I knew that the odds were this was going to happen. Former Oklahoma State slot receiver and sophomore captain John Paul Richardson announcing his new school.
I believe he means all that he said in that announcement. I will look forward to opportunities to see him.
I’ve told anyone that asked and everybody that listens to my radio show that when John Paul Richardson announced he was going in the transfer portal that it was a kick in the gut to me. I’ve really enjoyed this young man and the kind of person and the level of player he is. This is a high quality young man. I will miss his dad, former Texas A&M quarterback Bucky Richardson and his lovely mom Tracy. Good people and a good family.
If there is a right way to depart in the transfer portal, and I’m not sure there is, John Paul Richardson did it as right as you could. He’ll now be coached by former Oklahoma State player and assistant coach Doug Meacham, who also was in on recruiting Richardson early out of Ridge Point High School. I will root for JPR just not to beat Oklahoma State. I really wish this one hadn’t left, but that is the day and the age of the transfer portal.
