Avery Anderson III Tabbed Big 12 Player of the Week
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State guard Avery Anderson III was tabbed the Big 12 Player of the Week following his performances against OU and Iowa State this past week.
This marks the first time he’s picked up this award during his career.
The senior out of Justin, TX, was nearly unstoppable in the 61-59 win over Iowa State and 72-56 win over OU as he averaging 16 points and 5 assists during the two games. He dropped 14 points, five assists and zero turnovers against the Sooners, the first time since the Oregon State game in the NCAA tournament in 2020-21 he recorded zero turnovers.
As for the 61-59 upset of the No. 12 Cyclones, Anderson dropped 18 points and five assists on 5-of-9 shooting from the field, 2-of-3 from 3-point range. He was one of the main catalysts in one of the Pokes’ largest comebacks, 16 points. His 18 points against the Cylones tied a season-high.
On the season, Anderson’s averaging 11 points and 3.7 rebounds per game, while shooting nearly 40% from the field and 80% from the free throw line. He’s also recorded 61 assists this season.
The Cowboys have another major test this week as they travel to Austin for a showdown with No. 10 Texas. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. and will be televised on the Longhorn Network.
