STILLWATER – Oklahoma State football pushed out a bunch of offers on Friday (Feb. 17) for the 2024 recruiting class. The Cowboys already have four commitments in that class with Stillwater tight end Josh Ford; Oklahoma City Southeast running back Rodney Fields; Longview, Texas cornerback Willie Nelson; and earlier this week Choctaw defensive end Will Smith.

We counted as many as eight offers, and we are aware of at least five more that have been extended or are close to being extended. The defensive coaching staff and recruiting staff was very busy. Seven of the eight offers we’re listing are for players expected to play on the defensive side of the ball in college. The lone offensive designated prospect reporting an offer is John (J.B.) Price of Blue Valley High School outside Kansas City.

J.B. Price (No.23)

The 6-0, 190-pound Price is a back with speed and exceptional vision as he is consistently getting into space and then zig zags his way for huge plays. This past season Price carried 140 times for 1,004-yards with a 7.1-yards per carry average. He had 1,328-yards of all-purpose yardage and 13 touchdowns. Price has offers from Iowa, Kansas, Kansas State, and Minnesota as well.

The defensive standouts earning scholarship offers from the Cowboys included in-state players, four prospects from the State of Texas, and a talented defensive end from Louisiana.

Hills (No. 55) on a stop on short yardage.

Melvin Hills III is from Lafayette Christian School, and he led his team to the Class 4A Division II State Championship Game where they lost a wild shoot-out to St. Thomas More 52-48. The 6-4, 235-pound Hills III also earned first-team All-State Class 4A in Louisiana from the Louisiana Sportswriters Association.

Hills III had 84 total tackles, 17 tackles-for-loss, and six sacks this season. He also forced a fumble and recovered a pair of loose footballs. He is popular with a host of offers that besides Oklahoma State includes Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Texas, and Texas A&M.

Jordan on the sidelines.

The two in-state players both helped their teams win State Championship Games this season. Cornerback Devon Jordan was a force in the secondary for Tulsa Union in Class 6A-I. Jordan is 6-1, 170-pounds and he had three receptions for 67-yards on offense, but on defense had 43 tackles, with two tackles-for-loss, two interceptions, and a fumble forced. Jordan recently went on an unofficial visit to Iowa State and the Cyclones have offered and are pushing hard. Other offers have come in from Kansas State, Louisiana-Monroe, and SMU.

Whitt Edwards is a “freaky” prospect that I think could explode next season even more for Class 4A State Champion Wagoner and then on the college level as well. He is 6-6, 215-pounds and as an outside linebacker is somebody to watch out for. He also plays receiver on offense creating some massive mismatches for the Bulldogs offense.

He is listed with a 4.62 in the forty and that is where the freaky comes in. Excellent speed for a player with that size and frame. Iowa State, Kansas, North Texas, and UNLV have offered in addition to Oklahoma State.

Now, from the state of Texas you have defensive linemen Luke Webb of Deer Park and Travis Jackson from Tyler Legacy.

Jackson is a force for Legacy.

Jackson is a 6-4, 235-pound athletic defensive end that finished last season with 60 total tackles, 15 tackles-for-loss, 6.5 sacks, two fumbles forced, a fumble recovered, and a pass defended. He is all over the place. As you can imagine there are a lot of schools interested with Oklahoma State joined by Central Michigan, Kansas State, Missouri, Texas Tech, Houston, UNLV, and Louisiana Tech.

Webb is a defensive tackle and listed at 6-5, 260-pounds. He shows a 300-pounds plus max on the bench press and over 400-pounds on the squat. We watched video on him and in what we watched counted 29 tackles with 15 tackles-for-loss and two sacks. He is as quick an inside technique player at that level as you will ever find.

Arkansas State, Houston, and Texas State have offered, so the Oklahoma State offer is a big bump up for Webb.

The two highest-regarded of the new Cowboy offers are Timpson athlete Terry Bussey and Forny safety Aaron Flowers.

Flowers is 6-0, 185-pounds and has close to 25 offers including Oklahoma State, Alabama, Baylor, Colorado, Kansas State, Michigan State, Missouri, Nebraska, Northwestern, Mississippi, Oregon, SMU, Texas Tech, Southern Cal, and Washington. This season he finished with 55 tackles, two interceptions, two fumbles forced, two blocked kicks, and two defensive PAT returns. That is an unusual statistic.

Terry Bussey on the run this season.

Bussey is an all-around player and was named first-team All-American Junior Team from MaxPreps. The 6-0, 180-pound Bussey does it all. He is currently averaging over 15-points a game in basketball for Timpson. In football he played quarterback and threw for 2,177-yards and 26 touchdowns. He carried the ball 184 times for 2,596-yards and 46 touchdowns. On defense he had 115 tackles with five interceptions, and he returned four of those for touchdowns. He also returned four kick-offs for scores and took a punt return to the house as well.

He has 24 offers that include Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Texas, Texas Tech, Alabama, Baylor, LSU, Kansas State, Oregon, and Nebraska.

Stay tuned as we think the offers will continue to flow out of the West End Zone all weekend.
