STILLWATER – Mike Gundy made it clear that his players need the time off. They have worked really hard, lots of hard practices and the team went through a grind where they have played a nine-game stretch since the open week back on Sept. 30. Gundy has given them seven full days off and will practice for the bowl for the first time on Monday, Dec. 11.

“They need the time,” Gundy emphasized.

I loved his tough 4th down play to keep the drive going vs. BYU but I think it might be best for all involved if Nixon hit the portal. He could start at a smaller school and do well I bet. Vailahi looked fantastic in limited time. Hope to see more of him in the bowl game to give Ollie a breather.

No need to crap on Nixon in public like that. He's much smaller and less physical than Gordon (who isn't?) and isn't going to turn what should be a loss into a 2-3 yard gain. Simply put, he needs bigger holes to succeed, like Hubbard did. With that being said, you need 3-4 RB that you can trust if pressed into action and with Collins leaving and only freshman coming in as of now, Nixon is a valuable player to have on the roster. He's also very dangerous in the return game and without Pressley, would be out most experienced return man.

Another site, pistols firing, is reporting we have offered a 6"2' 225 pound back from south Carolina. Under-recruited, they say. A bruiser with burst (burst of speed I take it to mean). Could be a good get. Big fast . we could get some depth via portal, if need be, of course. Really like Nixon. Too bad Collins was just a one year guy that got hurt.

IF that is true, and IF he decides to attend OSU, then it would seem that Gundy is committing to keeping the current approach of getting additional blockers at the point of attack, which I would love.

Also, couldn't Collins apply for a medical hardship? (I don't recall how many games he played this year)
