STILLWATER – The Summer Olympics every four years is always the biggest sporting event on the planet, one everyone tunes into each and every night of the event. Well, Oklahoma State fans have four more reasons to watch and cheer as four former OSU golfers have qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

The foursome of Wyndham Clark, Viktor Hovland, Alex Noren and Kris Ventura will be representing their respective countries and their former alma mater in the men’s golf event August 1-4 at Le Golf National.

You can view the full top-60 rankings here:

Here are the Olympic qualifications from the International Golf Federation.

“The men’s qualification period for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games commenced on 17 June 2022 and concluded following the U.S. Open on 17 June 2024. The top 15 world-ranked players were eligible for the Olympics, with a limit of four players from a given country. Beyond the top 15, players were eligible based on the Official World Golf Ranking, with a maximum of two eligible players from each country that did not already have two or more players among the top 15. The host country – France – was guaranteed at least one spot, as is each of the five continents of the Olympics.”

Clark, who’s representing the United States, is the fifth-ranked overall golfer, Hovland, who’s representing Norway, is the sixth-ranked overall golfer, Noren, who represents Sweden, is the 26th ranked golfer and Kris Ventura, who’s also representing Norway, is the No. 56 ranked golfer.

Clark, who transferred to Oregon after nearly a complete career in Stillwater, has a pair of runner-up finishes this season, as well as a win at this year’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Hovland, who helped win a national championship for the Pokes back in 2019, is having a good 2024 PGA season so far as he’s recorded a third-place finish at the PGA Championship. During the past two years of qualifications, Hovland has recorded three tournament wins. This marks his second Olympic Games as he also qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

Noren is also competing in his second Olympic Games, with Tokyo being his other, and has a pair of top-10 Tour finishes this season, with Ventura competing in his first Olympic Games. Going through the list of golfers, Hovland and Ventura are the only two golfers competing for Norway. That’s a solid Oklahoma State pipeline.
