Former Oklahoma State All-American WR James Washington Gets Another NFL Chance

STILLWATER – I overheard this was going to happen on the camp day at Oklahoma State on Sunday, but I could not find any collaboration until Monday (July 29) as former Oklahoma State All-American and Biletnikoff Award winner James Washington is getting another crack at the NFL.

The Atlanta Falcons are signing Washington, Mike Garafolo of NFL Media is reporting. Washington spent two seasons with Falcons wide receivers coach Ike Hilliard in Pittsburgh. The offensive coordinator for the Falcons is familiar with Washington too.

Washington and Zac Robinson are both former Oklahoma State players but from different years. Robinson was at OSU from 2005-09 and was the starting quarterback his last three seasons. Washington played later and caught most of his passes from current Tennessee Titans quarterback Mason Rudolph when the two were playing on the same offense in Stillwater. 

Washington was traded to Dallas but suffered multiple injuries and ended up with season ending surgery.

Washington has played only two games the past two seasons, with his last coming on Dec. 18, 2022. He has not on a team last season after both the Saints and the Colts cut him in August.

He has not caught a pass since.

A second-round pick of the Steelers in 2018, he has 114 receptions for 1,629 yards and 11 touchdowns in his career.
