STILLWATER – Sometime in the next hour or two Steve Lutz is going to see his team hit the floor in the Charles Koch Arena in Wichita, Kan. and go against a team in a different (practice) uniform than Oklahoma State. Lutz has had close to three weeks of intense practice, but he says this will be a no thrills look at the Cowboys. Just the basics behind closed doors for Lutz and his staff to evaluate.

Lutz is very hands on at practice.

I think he was a great hire and he has won everywhere he has been. Good things coming!

We will see. I'm not high on the hire. He had one season where he did anything....his second season at corpus christi where he went 14-4 in conference. His other two seasons he went .500 in conference (really really weak conferences) He has made it to the tournament 3 times, but has lost all three times in their first round games. If .500 hundred is all he can muster, then the big 12 is gonna be a rough experience for him. If your hope is to just make the tournament.......this guy may have a chance considering we will probably get 12 teams in the tournament as a conference. But this guy had 0 track record of success minus one year. And he did it all in a really crappy conference. I do wish him the best and want nothing more than for him to succeed but he will get a punch in the face his first year in the conference. After that.....it will be same old song and dance of a couple tournaments every 5-10 years. This was a blah hire because we couldn't afford to get the good better coaches. He was the sloppy seconds. None of the better coaches wanted to coach at osu because we don't have the NIL money to compete. But.....we will see. I hope I eat my words. Not much better hire than boynton.

One telling thing for me was that we got a commitment from a center for next year that is so bad he isn't even rated by rivals or scout or 247.

Tell you what I know. He took a Corpus squad to the dance, took WK to the dance. Those to schools are lower then mid majors.

He reminds me of Rick Majerus, in his style of doing things and that man did more with less when it came to ranking of recruits.

I'd say just sit back and see what happens. One thing is for sure if he does turn things around he won't be here long.
