Oklahoma State Lands One Of Nation’s Top Backcourt Talents In Lena Girardi
STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State's women's basketball team has signed one of the nation's most sought-after guards with the addition of Lena Girardi it was announced today by Cowgirl head coach Jacie Hoyt.
"Lena is the perfect fit for our team both on and off the court. She is a fierce competitor with an unmatched work ethic. Those are two qualities we hold with the highest regard in our program. Her ability to score at all three levels as a big guard will enable her to be very effective in the Big 12," Hoyt said.
"She has a knack for doing a little bit of everything, she can score, pass and rebound with the best of them. Lena has been around the highest level of athletes and training her whole life. It shows every time she steps on the court or you have a conversation with her. We are so proud she is a Cowgirl."
A 6-0 guard from Purchase, New York, Girardi is rated as a four-star prospect and the No. 63 player in the country in the 2025 HoopGurlz/ESPNW Top 100.
"I chose Oklahoma State because of my instant connection with not only coach Jacie but the staff and the players. I love the culture they are building and the hardworking family environment. When I arrived on campus, it felt like home," Girardi said.
As a sophomore in 2022-23, Girardi competed for Westminster Academy in Florida and was named the Broward County 4A/2A Player of the Year after averaging 23.3 points, 12.8 rebounds and 2.2 steals per contest.
As a freshman, she averaged 20.2 points per game while helping the Lions to a Class 3A state title.
She missed the majority of her junior campaign due to injury and will finish her prep career at Grandview Prep this season.

The addition of Girardi marks the second consecutive year the Cowgirls have signed a top 100 backcourt standout, joining current freshman Jadyn Wooten (No. 91).
