The Question I Couldn't Believe at the Mike Gundy and Football News Conference

STILLWATER – Thursday was a good day for the media getting plenty of material from solid exposure (over an hour and 20 minutes) with head football coach Mike Gundy, defensive coordinator Todd Grantham, offensive coordinator Doug Meacham, and then Vice-President for athletics and athletics director Chad Weiberg.

RA, under normal, or past circumstances I would agree with you.
But in this day and age of CFB being much like the NFL, and the statement MG made during the season about fans, it was warranted. At some point MG needs to address his comments.

What's there to address? He obviously knows how stupid it was and it was said in the heat of the battle. He's always done that. He explodes. Hell, I've been guilty of that more than once in my life and then I forget all about it and move on. The people I exploded on aren't quite so forgiving but they come around after I grovel for a bit. I always feel like poop afterwards.

I've wondered, before his foot-in-mouth comment, how much grief the players were getting about the win-loss record and their game day effort. MG says he doesn't pay attention to that but the kids do or can't avoid it, so he deflected the anger away from them and to himself by his comment.
Besides, if one were offended by his comments, then maybe there was some truth in what he said.
I'm glad he pressed the reset button.

if so, then there are many business unsavvy (naive perhaps) people


In my extensive experience with dealing with and motivating employees, I never once considered a question like that. I'm sure many other's on here can attest to similar experiences.

If you establish a set criteria for performance that is communicated, and they aren't meeting that objective, only then would you have that serious of a discussion.

The guy (Gundy) has 20 year success record and discussions with such an employee would always be what plan do you have to get this back on track, how do we measure that, and what can we do to help. Period.

Anything beyond that is simply insulting to ask a professional at the ADs level an ignorant question like that.

It was just flat out rude

And, the fact everyone knows that those comments were directed at a very small number of pod casters and X accounts that have been pummeling Gundy and OSU football for years. One in particular that has put out many egregious lies about Gundy and the program. Sadly many chose to join that small group of malcontents and claim those comments than see what made Gundy blow up, and move on.

Gundys comment nor the reporter question bothers me at all. However, neither is helpful in moving our program forward or encouraging support in the future. Time to move on and win games. It looks like coach is all in. Humbling experiences have a tendency to get you motivated. In my opinion, everything happened for a reason and we are back at focusing on improving. I'm excited for the coming spring and year

There was absolutely nothing wrong with the context of the question? Personally, I believe the majority of OSU alumni and fans have wondered was their consideration given at the board level to fire Gundy and/or specifically what went on during the approximate 48 hours when Gundy's future at OSU was up in the air.
As usual, I felt Chad did a great job, responding to the question!

Is there public video of AD Chad's time at the podium from last Thursday? All the videos i find stop when he starts.
